As midsummer reports go, Paul Nicholls has every right to be pleased with the way things have gone over the past few months after Bagad Bihoue notched his fourth consecutive victory over fences when making all in the 2m½f novice chase.

Nicholls currently boasts a strike-rate close to 40 per cent, with 22 winners from 57 runners and conceded he had been busy trying to finding some potential new equine stars to boost his yard’s profile in the upcoming core season.

He said: “It’s been a busy time as we've bought a lot of younger horses and stores with the future very much in mind, and we're thoroughly looking forward to the core season in October.
