The Cheltenham dream is very much alive for Robert Widger and his hugely improved hurdler Treacysenniscorthy after a game front-running victory in the €100,000 William Fry Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown, capping a memorable weekend for talented conditional Kevin Brouder.

The gallant eight-year-old has now won five of his last six starts, improving from a mark of 99 to win off 128 at the prestigious fixture.

Widger said: "He only does what he has to do so you never know how much he's improved. Every time he's run you're thinking the handicapper has him after putting him up in the weights but it's brilliant that he's improving."
