Simply The Betts may not have been a betting proposition for the short-sleeved Bank Holiday crowd but he put on a show for the track's busiest day of the year when streaking away with the 2m maiden hurdle.

The well backed 30-100 chance (from 1-2) appreciated the drop in class having previously mixed it with the likes of Summerville Boy and Kalashnikov in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham festival.

Trainer Harry Whittington turned the 130-rated gelding out again for a confidence booster and it could not have gone any better with Daryl Jacob doing the steering for an eight-length triumph.
