Majestic Glory showcased her credentials for next year's 1,000 Guineas in terrific style with an impressive success in the Sweet Solera Stakes, providing owner Gearoid Costelloe with a maiden Group race winner with the first horse he bought for the Flat.

Costelloe, who has three horses in training on the level but is predominantly a jumps owner, enjoyed the landmark winner with the daughter of Frankel, who defied an eight-day turnaround from her success at the track last Friday and trouble in-running to motor to a length victory under David Probert.

While he was able to enjoy his Pattern-race win on the July course, the owner already had an eye on top-level targets, which could include a tilt at the Fillies' Mile as well as next year's 1,000 Guineas on the neighbouring Rowley Mile.

"It's fantastic; it's better than the jumps!" a delighted Costelloe joked. "Thankfully, we got this one as our very first Flat horse for our adventure. David said it was quite easy in the end. She just kept on staying. She'll have no problem staying a mile as she's bred to go over a mile and a half.

"Andrew [Balding, trainer] kept saying she keeps improving and he was very confident today. She's bred to go further, so to win over this is a big bonus for black type."

Majestic Glory's success edged Probert to 99 winners in a memorable year that has also included a first Royal Ascot success on fellow Balding-trained Sandrine, who is as short as 12-1 for the 1,000 Guineas, but he was not drawing any comparisons between the pair.

He said: "She's much different as she definitely wants a mile, whereas Sandrine is blessed with speed and is special. It's hard to compare them, but she's got a great attitude."

Terrific treble for Murphy

Oisin Murphy's staggering run of form this week continued with a treble headlined by Storm Damage's easy victory in the mile handicap.

Murphy also guided Neptune Legend to win the 7f nursery as well as Dancing Harry in the concluding 1m6f handicap to take his tally of winners since Monday to 15 in his quest for a third straight jockeys' championship.

He could also have a big-race ride on the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Storm Damage, who booked his place in next month's Cambridgeshire with a five-and-a-half-length success.

"He's a solid horse. I think a lot of him," the trainer said. "We'll be going to the Cambridgeshire with him, then back to Dubai. Oisin thinks it's the perfect race for him; he's a brilliant jockey.

"He'll be rated over 100 now, but don't tell the handicapper!"

Ryan ready to go

Rossa Ryan warmed up for his big-race ride on Go Bears Go in Sunday's Phoenix Stakes in the best possible fashion when guiding Girl On Film to an authoritative debut success in the opening 7f fillies' maiden.
