A first trip to the Breeders' Cup awaits Brian Ellison after The Mackem Bullet made a mockery of her 25-1 starting price in the Cheveley Park Stakes with a sharpshooting second-placed finish.

While Ellison may need to explain to more than one bemused American racegoer what a Mackem is when the filly takes her chance in the Juvenile Fillies' Turf at Churchill Downs in November, her ability needs no local knowledge to understand.

A nose second to Fairyland in the Lowther at York, the daughter of Society Rock upheld that form when finishing a neck behind her old adversary on the Rowley Mile.
