Fran Berry paid his first ever visit to Norfolk on Ladies Day and headed back down the A11 with a double which kicked off with Desert Skyline pulling off a 40-1 shock in the opener.

Given the track's recent water woes, Splash Around was well fancied to read the script in the mile contest and was well backed to do so from evens into 8-15.

Favourite backers were sunk some way out, however, when Berry's mount hit top gear up the rail to reel in Merlin with Splash Around toiling in fourth.
