Berry bargain Kilim begins to pay her way under fine ride
John Berry paid just £5,500 when buying Kilim out of Luca Cumani's stable last September and, while her 16-1 success in the 1m4f handicap repaid less than half of that sum, it now looks a good bit of business.

The delighted trainer, who had walked the course and given detailed instructions to apprentice Nicola Currie, said: "I'm thrilled she's won a race. I bought her out of Luca's stable a year ago and she was frustrating. She's well bred and from a family that improve, but she was going down in the ratings and not running any better.
