Tom Bellamy has moved up the pecking order at Alan King's powerful stable after the retirement of Wayne Hutchinson and he showed he is ready for the challenge when partnering Alsa Mix to victory in the Listed mares' novice chase at Bangor.

Bellamy, who won the BetVictor Gold Cup two years ago on Splash Of Ginge, was short of room in the closing stages but still managed to nurse his mount home for a short-head success over 4-7 favourite Agusta Gold.

With Tom Cannon taking over as King's stable jockey, Bellamy is well placed to pick up more opportunities during what promises to be a key season.
