Battling Bacchus bags big one for Kirby and Meehan

Bacchus put in a gutsy display to land the feature £45,000 Randox Health Handicap to give jockey Adam Kirby the first leg of a double.

Racing towards the rear of the runners who tracked towards the stands' rail, the Brian Meehan-trained Bacchus gradually made his way to the front and got on top inside the final furlong.

Dakota Gold, who also raced towards the stands, was not giving an inch but Bacchus was all heart as he got the victory by a short head, leaving Kirby praising both horses.
