Battaash in Nunthorpe reckoning after impressive Charge
Battaash lowered a 21-year-old course record and earned a possible crack at Lady Aurelia in next month's Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes when blitzing his way to an impressive all-the-way defeat of Mirza in the Group 3 Coral Charge.
Described by Charlie Hills as "a bull in a china shop" until he was gelded in the winter, he now races with controlled power, and lashings of it.
After Battaash had come home three and a quarter lengths clear in a time of 58.57sec, lowering Palacegate Touch's previous best by 0.25sec after having the race sewn up by halfway under Dane O'Neill, Hills said: "It was handy coming back here to up him in grade, as he was proven here after winning a couple of weeks ago.
