The irony of One Last Dance winning the 1m½f nursery in the silks of Bill Bailey will not have been lost on Strictly Come Dancing fans.

The comedian has been the unlikely star of the BBC show after dazzling viewers with his dancing skills, although he is not known for having an interest in horseracing.

One Last Dance's trainer Richard Hughes confirmed there hadn't been a tie-up with the celebrity when saying: "He's not the Bill Bailey everyone thinks he is! He has horses with his wife Liz and named this horse after the Michael Jordan documentary we all watched during lockdown [The Last Dance]."
