Four days after one of his worst weekends in more than three decades as a trainer, Mark Johnston got a reminder of one of the happiest.

Permian's tragic death in the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington on Saturday is a blow that will take a long time to recover from.

But there was the chance to remember better times as Baileys Excelerate gave him his first winner since, carrying the colours in which Mister Baileys gave the trainer his first Classic success in the 2,000 Guineas in 1994.
