Awesome O'Connor reaches milestone with Amateur Derby win

When considering the leading amateur riders of any generation, few could argue that Derek O'Connor does not deserve a place near the top of the list, with more than 1,100 winners recorded on the point-to-point circuit to go with numerous notable successes under rules.

However, the multiple point-to-point champion and Cheltenham Festival-winning rider completed an outstanding achievement with victory in the Amateur Derby aboard Joseph O'Brien's Apparition.

"I think that's a winner at every track in Ireland now, which I'm delighted to have done," reported an extremely pleased O'Connor.
