Charlie Austin 1 Michael Owen 0. The goal-scoring strikers-turned-owners had a straight shootout in the 7½f three-year-old handicap and it was Austin left celebrating as Another Batt held off Dragons Tail in a pulsating finish.

Another Batt pulled out all the stops under champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa to cap an excellent week for Austin, who set up Excel Racing with friend Paul Fisher.

On Tuesday night, the striker helped Southampton all but secure Premier League safety with an away win at Swansea and his mood was brightened further as the syndicate's flag-bearer claimed another good prize.
