Severe delays on the A14 caused a headache for several jockeys travelling from Newmarket, with Andrea Atzeni arriving just in time to partner Wilamina to victory in the £40,000 Listed British EBF totepool Nottinghamshire Oaks.

Atzeni entered the weighing room with just 15 minutes to spare following a frustrating morning sitting in the ensuing standstill traffic after a multi-vehicle crash resulted in a jackknifed lorry closing lanes on the A14 westbound.

However, he was left happy as Wilamina bounced back to form on her first start of the campaign, running on strongly to defeat Singyoursong, ridden by Jamie Spencer – also delayed by the traffic – by a length.
