Joy, relief and a bit of sadness: the complex emotions of trainer Tom Dascombe after Arthur Kitt, the third and final foal of his 2012 Queen Mary winner Ceiling Kitty, made a winning debut in the 6f novice stakes in the colours of Andrew Black's Chasemore Farm.

Dascombe said after the colt's convincing two-and-a-half length success: "His mother was a star for us and, sadly, she died giving birth to him, so it means a lot that he's won. It's great for Andrew Black, who puts so much in, that he's got another good one out of her."

He continued: "He's useful, we think a lot of him, and I imagine we'll go for the Chesham now. It's a relief he's won that first race."
