Arthenus confirms good impression behind New Bay with Saint-Cloud strike
Arthenus led home a Newmarket one-two in the Listed Prix de Boulogne at Saint-Cloud on Sunday as Pierre-Charles Boudot threaded James Fanshawe's runner up the rail to collar the Chris Wall-trained First Sitting.
Arthenus failed to cope with the hustle and bustle of the John Smith's Cup in July but has thrived on two visits to France, having chased home New Bay in the Group 3 Prix Gontaut-Biron at Deauville last month.
"We came here in the first place because he got a bit lost in the big handicaps at home," said Fanshawe's assistant Kevin Philippart. "We thought he had a good chance today as he's remained in excellent form. He isn't in the Prix Dollar and has had two return trips in three weeks so we'll need to see how he is before Mr Fanshawe decides on a plan."
