Once she was asked to quicken Enable did not hang around. Nor did they.

John Gosden was off to America, Teddy Grimthorpe was off to Ascot and Frankie Dettori was off home to Newmarket in the Gredleys' chopper. What took place was a mass exodus of Kempton, to such an extent you had to feel sorry for the nursery that came next.

This was a day that revolved around one race. In truth it revolved around one horse. It is testament to the reputation and prowess of Enable that she completely overshadowed Crystal Ocean both before, during and after the best and most important Flat race staged here in over three decades.
