Another Touch upsets big two with first Listed success

The Pomfret Stakes was billed as a battle between two of the north's highest money-earners, but the prize went to the previously unheralded Another Touch, who bridged the gap from handicaps with a first strike at Listed level.

In what was a canny piece of placing by Richard Fahey, the consistent handicapper had his day in the sun when overhauling David O'Meara stalwart Custom Cut, while stablemate and Group-race regular Gabrial was never a factor back in third.

Eighth in the John Smith's Cup beaten just over three lengths last time, Another Touch was wrong at the weights but crucially in receipt of 5lb from the runner-up.
