Amo Racing’s €1 million filly bounces back from Royal Ascot disappointment to claim Listed prize

Silent Beauty bounced back from a disappointing run at Royal Ascot to land the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Ripon Champion Two Yrs Old Trophy.

Amo Racing paid €1 million for the daughter of Night Of Thunder at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale last September, and she made a winning start at Yarmouth in May. 

However, she then failed to back that up in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot the following month on a much faster surface, finishing 23rd of the 25 runners.

Returned to a slower surface and calmer waters here, she got back to winning ways under David Egan, who sat close to the pace throughout, kicked on two furlongs out and stormed three lengths clear of main market rival Rogue Jewel.

Egan, who rode her for Newmarket trainer Kevin Philippart de Foy, told Sky Sports Racing: “She’s a filly I’ve always liked and she won impressively on her debut. We went to Ascot with high hopes, and I thought potentially after her race there that the ground was slightly on the quick side. When the rain came as I arrived in Yorkshire today, I was definitely pleased. 

"She was an expensive horse at the sales. She’s by Night Of Thunder and they’re not always as precocious as she is, but she showed how precocious she was on her debut and it was nice to see her go and take that next step today. She’s back on the right track."

Murphy doubles up 

Oisin Murphy made the trip worthwhile by notching a double on the Paul Midgley-trained Rock Of England in the 5f handicap and Rogers Dream, trained by Gihan Arnolda, in the first division of the 1m2f classified stakes.
