Thomasina Eyston kicked off a notable period in and out of the saddle with her first course winner on Winds Of Winter in the 2m1f female jockeys' handicap hurdle.

The amateur rider is due to finish her studies at Exeter University next month but she found time to tick off a victory at the Cumbria course on the George Bewley-trained seven-year-old, and received a nice piece of jewellery for the success.

Eyston told Racing TV: "All the girls want to win this race because of the necklace you get for it! I've not had a huge amount of luck here in the past, but it's probably the biggest race I've won and feels like a prestigious win.

"I've been doing a masters this year in neuroscience, and I want to go into research for psychiatric disorders. I finish at the end of August and it's pretty intense, so it's a lovely break to go away racing. Hopefully I can find a job where I can keep going racing, as it'd be a shame to waste what I've built up."

Day to remember

On his father Dudley's 90th birthday, Jimmy Moffatt secured extra family celebrations with a rapid double.

Moffatt struck in the opening 2m6f novice hurdle with Caughtinyourtrance before Dusky Days landed the 2m1f novice handicap hurdle, both of which came under Charlotte Jones.

Brilliant Bumpy

Bumpy Evans's red-hot form continued when completing his four-timer with an effortless win in the 3m1½f handicap chase.
