Amalfi Doug strikes for Dalgleish as Grade 1 heroine La Bague Au Roi falters

Veteran chaser Amalfi Doug rolled back the years with a fifth course victory in the feature 3m Weatherbys Racing Bank David Whitaker Handicap Chase, beating Elmono by seven-and-a-half lengths for trainer Keith Dalgleish.
Dual Grade 1-winning novice chaser La Bague Au Roi, who was sent off the 2-1 joint-favourite, led most of the way but appeared beaten when she made a shuddering final fence error that completely ended her chances.

The star mare showed the fire still burns despite her fourth-placed finish on what is likely to be her final season of racing before assuming her second career as a broodmare.
