Alicestar twinkles with impressive debut victory under Tom Marquand

Alicestar looks a filly destined for better things after comfortably winning the 6f novice auction under Tom Marquand.

The David Simcock-trained daughter of Charming Thought was a tad green but once the penny dropped there was no stopping her, as she beat 1-2 favourite Soldier Lions by a length and a half with a further seven and a half lengths back to third.

Marquand said: "She’s done it really nicely. Early doors I switched in behind to avoid the headwind and teach her a bit. When there’s an odds-on shot there’s a target on their back and Alicestar's gone through the line really hard and picked up nicely.
