Advertise bounces back under Frankie Dettori to win the Commonwealth Cup
Advertise kept Frankie Dettori's Royal Ascot momentum rolling when running out an emphatic winner of the Commonwealth Cup.
Successful in a Group 1 as a two-year-old, Advertise failed to put his best foot forward in the 2,000 Guineas but travelled superbly in first-time blinkers under Dettori back at a sprint trip and the 8-1 shot clear of runner-up Forever In Dreams.
Hello Youmzain missed the start but kept on for third, with even-money favourite Ten Sovereigns never looking entirely comfortable. He could not match the front three for pace and finished fourth.
Dettori, equalling his best of seven winners at a single Royal Ascot after a 449-1 four-timer on Thursday, said: "I'm so pleased for Martyn. His horses were sick in the spring and this horse ran badly in the Guineas. He had to bite the bullet and close his stables for a month and he's got his reward.
"I'm so pleased for the horse and his connections. It's been an unbelievable week."
Advertise is owned by Phoenix Thoroughbreds and Amer Abdulaziz said: "It's a beautiful day; it couldn't get better. This is great – awesome. We knew the horse was doing great and he was working well and the trainer was happy with him.
"To have him win like that was amazing. Winning at Royal Ascot means a lot. There is nothing like this."
