Ray Dawson could not have asked for an easier first ride in the famous Shadwell racing silks as Talbeyah ran out a dominant winner of the 1m2f novice stakes.

The jockey, riding his fifth winner of the week, held up the three-year-old daughter of Lope De Vega who breezed into the lead with a furlong to go before quickening clear for a six-length win.

Dawson said: "That's a great start. The last ten days or so we've kicked into gear and opportunities like this are coming. When luck's in your favour it's good.

"Mr [Owen] Burrows was quite confident that, if she didn't overrace, she could go pretty good but I don't think he was expecting that. She's done it like a nice one."

Super sub

Pat Dobbs missed his rides when his car broke down on his journey to Chepstow and Richard Kingscote stepped in to partner Grand Scheme to a convincing win in the mile handicap.

Although his car was written off with an iron bolt through a tyre, Dobbs will still take the ride on Chindit in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas on Saturday.

Jockey banned

Jordan Williams was given a nine-day whip ban by the stewards for his ride on Cogital, who was beaten a short head in the second division of the two-mile handicap.
