A day that started so badly finished so brilliantly for Noel Meade, who can spend the summer dreaming of having a Supreme Novices' Hurdle contender after Red Jack made it two from two in the Tattersalls Ireland Sales Bumper, the third €100,000 contest on the card.

Meade might have won the opening 2m maiden hurdle had Runforbob safely negotiated the last under Sean Flanagan when upsides Tudor City, but he met it all wrong, sprawled on landing and chipped a bone in his shoulder, which means we will probably never see him again.

Thankfully Meade was consoled by the somewhat fortuitous victory of Road To Respect in the feature Ryanair Gold Cup, before Red Jack made it a Sunday to savour under Danny Benson.
