20-1 into 6-1! Sweet result for punters as Boghlone Honey lands gamble
Friday: Sligo
Boghlone Honey was a sweet winner of the mares' handicap hurdle for punters who backed her into 6-1 having been available at 20-1 earlier in the day.
The Liam Cusack-trained seven-year-old had form figures of 6700 from last season and a 307-day absence to overcome, but the outcome was never in doubt as she travelled best and coasted clear for a comfortable victory under Richie Deegan.
Incidentally, Boghlone Honey finished sixth to Friday's impressive Cheltenham winner Found On in a Boulta point-to-point in 2019.
Byrnes double again
Philip Byrnes helped himself to a double at Punchestown this month and he repeated the feat here with a quickfire double in back-to-back races thanks to the victories of Suain Na Draoicht and Gaius.
The young 7lb claimer has now won on four of his last eight rides.
Safe landing for Jet
Tax For Max had top weight in the Irish Cesarewitch with a mark of 110. Supreme Jet is rated only 76 on the Flat but he claimed the scalp of the odds-on Willie Mullins-trained favourite in the opening Owenmore Hurdle.
The 6-1 shot, trained by Oliver McKiernan, made every yard of the running and answered every call from Richie Condon to see off Typical Thomas by two and three-quarter lengths. Tax For Max was only third having once again pulled far too hard in the early stages.
40-1 shock
There was an even bigger upset in the Hazelwood Handicap Hurdle when 40-1 outsider True Destiny bounced back to form for trainer James Lambe.
