Minnie Hauk is a complete standout in the Yorkshire Oaks - but is she as good on quick ground?

Harry Wilson assesses the big-race favourite's credentials ahead of Thursday's feature

The weight-for-age concession the older brigade have to give to their three-year-old counterparts in the Yorkshire Oaks has made life immensely difficult for them in recent years.

The Classic generation have dominated this Group 1 in the last decade, with just two victories going the way of those aged four or older. Those were Arc winners Enable and Alpinista, which shows the level that has been required.

Since 2015, five of the eight three-year-old winners were trained by Aidan O’Brien, including Oaks scorers Love and Snowfall. They were sent off as heavy odds-on favourites – Love started 4-9 and Snowfall was 8-15 – and that is likely to be the case again with Minnie Hauk, given the lack of runners in opposition.
