Six winners meet in eyecatching Doncaster novice and Emmet Mullins saddles interesting Flat recruit

Friday's punting pointers from across the cards

Chepstow: Skelton’s evening aces

Dan Skelton’s last opportunity to add to his prize-money tally before Sandown’s jumps season finale comes when he saddles two of the four runners in the 2m handicap chase (6.05).

Tristan Durrell’s mount Doyouknowwhatimean was successful over course and distance just four days ago and carries a 7lb penalty, while Charlie Todd partners bottomweight Le Fauve, who was pulled up at Plumpton last weekend on his chasing debut.

Their rivals are Sam Drinkwater’s course-and-distance winner Ballybreeze, who was successful at Newbury last time, and the Charlie Longsdon-trained Bowmore, who sports cheekpieces for the first time after finishing third of four on his first start for the stable last month.

Doncaster: six winners meet in quality novice

Six winners line up in a 6f novice (4.15) that is certain to prove informative.

Dougie Costello maintains the partnership with the Charlie Appleby-trained Corolla Point, who cost 800,000gns at the Tattersalls Craven breeze-up sale last April and made a successful debut at Yarmouth in October.

Clive Cox’s Addison Grey and James Tate’s Blue Rc arrive on the back of successful all-weather debuts and Mick and David Easterby saddle two runners, including 40-1 Thirsk debut scorer Alpha Magic.

King Power Racing are represented by York winner Fondo Blanco, who is trained by Roger Varian, while Tom Clover saddles Newmarket scorer Sixtygeesbaby, who travelled strongly on the way to a four-length success on the Rowley Mile in November on his second start.

Clover said: “It looks a very good race, I was hoping it would split. He's done well from two to three and he won really nicely at Newmarket last season. He's done some nice pieces of homework with some good horses.

"We'll learn a lot more about him after this but he's got a good pedigree, being a half-brother to Rogue Lightning, and hopefully he should progress into a nice sprinter."

Fontwell: hat-trick seekers for Mulholland

Neil Mulholland and Conor O’Farrell team up with two horses bidding for a hat-trick on this evening card.

Sunshine Diamond was successful on his stable debut at Southwell in October – beating recent dual winner Shakeyatailfeather – and the topweight returns from a 204-day layoff in the 2m5f handicap hurdle (6.17).

Alright Dai racked up two wins in a week in the Christmas period and reappears following a 113-day break in the 2m3f handicap hurdle (7.47).

The seven-year-old has been raised a stone for his two wins but should have more to offer at this level.

Kilbeggan: Blackmore mount seeks chase breakthrough

The lightly raced Look To The West has some eyecatching form and bids for a first win over fences in the 2m4f beginners’ chase (6.25).

Rachael Blackmore’s mount beat the now 145-rated Bioluminescence on her debut for Henry de Bromhead in a maiden hurdle at Navan in 2023 and finished third behind Jade De Grugy in a Grade 3 mares’ novice hurdle at Fairyhouse later that season.

She was fifth in the Grade 1 mares’ novice hurdle at the same track last March and returned to action this season when third in a beginners’ chase at Clonmel in February.

The winner Paggane franked the form when second in Listed company at Perth on Wednesday.

Limerick: Emmet Mullins runs new recruit

The progressive Lord Church has joined Emmet Mullins and starts out for his new trainer in the mile handicap (4.35).

The four-year-old rattled off a handicap hat-trick for Mick Halford and Tracey Collins last year and was third behind subsequent Cheltenham Festival winner Puturhandstogether in a 1m2f handicap at the Curragh in July.

The son of Churchill finished a half-length second to Cloud Seeker at Naas on his final start at three in October.

Ronan Whelan maintains the partnership with Lord Church, who looks a nice recruit for the County Carlow yard.
