Our analyst thinks Sweet Solera hot favourite should be opposed

The majority of Sweet Solera winners over the past decade generally remained at this sort of level thereafter. Still, this race has precedent for throwing up a special juvenile.

That comment applied to Fallen Angel two seasons ago. She picked up the Moyglare, Ireland’s premier two-year-old race for fillies, en route to landing Group 1s at three and four.

The achievements of last season’s Sweet Solera winner Lake Victoria were even more impressive. She also won the Moyglare, a victory which paved the way for successes in the Cheveley Park, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf and Irish 1,000 Guineas.

The layers consider Space Blues’s sister Dance To The Music as the most likely top-class prospect. That is guesswork more than anything, though, as the form of her only start leaves her adrift on adjusted Racing Post Ratings.

Dance To The Music looked promising when beating Midnight Tango on her debut, but that rival has made giant strides since and the favourite has been absent for 84 days. That must be a concern given how early Dance To The Music was out and she was withdrawn on veterinary advice for her intended second run at Ascot two weeks ago.

Venetian Lace sets the standard on her Superlative Stakes effort over course and distance last month, a race in which her propensity to hang left under pressure cost her any chance of getting involved.

Whether this track is ideal is up for debate, although the Johnston yard has supplied three Sweet Solera winners since 2018 and had another talented filly engaged at the five-day stage.

Richard Hannon, who also has previous in this race, saddles a live contender in Sapphire Steps as well. She was a smooth debut winner of a 6f Newbury maiden the yard is well associated with. Her dam was a miler and this new distance can prompt a step forward.

What they say

Charlie Appleby, trainer of Dance To The Music
The form of her maiden win has worked out well and stepping up to seven furlongs will definitely suit. She looks in great order and should be a leading player.

Ed Walker, trainer of Midnight Tango and Princess Petrol
Both are exciting filles. Princess Petrol won well at Ascot, thrilling us as she took a novice in impressive fashion, and she's come out of that in good form. A step up in grade is the obvious next move. Midnight Tango raced too keenly in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot and didn't finish as strongly as she can do. We'll be changing tactics, dropping her out and taking more time with her.

William Knight, trainer of True Test
She’s two from two including a course-and-distance win so it makes sense to go back to the July course to try and pick up some black type.
