Oaks hope could have form boost and Royal Ascot wannabes set to strut their stuff

Punting pointers for Thursday's meetings

Punting pointers for Thursday's meetings . . .

Chelmsford: Oaks contender Queen could enjoy form boost

Qilin Queen could have her Oaks credentials boosted when Participle bids to break her maiden in the mile maiden fillies' stakes (6.20).

The Juddmonte filly pushed the Classic contender to a nose when second at Salisbury in August and has the pedigree to shape up into a Group 1 filly, being by Frankel out of Present Tense.

She is a half-sister to last year's Derby runner Macduff and from the family of champions Kingman and Oasis Dream.

Chelmsford stat: Explode goes for bang-in-form Ferguson

The Newmarket trainer is 2-7 (29 per cent strike-rate) in the past fortnight and is represented by Explode in the mile maiden (6.50).

Ffos Las: Sir Galahad bids to continue successful start for Murphy

Sir Galahad was rated only 68 on the Flat but he has taken to jump racing with aplomb and goes in search of a hat-trick in the 2m novice hurdle (3.35).

The four-year-old didn't win for James Ferguson but has fared much better since joining Olly Murphy, winning at Wetherby and Stratford in the style of a useful prospect.

He pulled away to win by 28 lengths last time and his trainer continues in excellent form with a 33 per cent strike-rate (10-30) this month.

Sir Galahad faces a tough task in conceding 1lb to promising unbeaten mare Roxanne from the Dan Skelton yard.

Murphy said: "Sir Galahad has started off his career well. He's got a double penalty and has to give weight away to Roxanne, but hopefully he's still progressing."

Haydock: Smart sprinter Blue Day out to double up for Charlton

Harry Charlton was unlucky not to have a few Royal Ascot winners last year and Blue Day is surely being aimed at next month's meeting.

The four-year-old took his form to a new level at Ascot last time with a cosy win over Duran (who reopposes here) and goes for another success in the 5f handicap (3.47).

Last time was his first start over the minimum trip and it could be that has unlocked the key to him. He should also strip fitter after that second run of the season and is bound to have plenty of supporters.

Haydock stat: Foley back in search of more British success

The Irish jockey has won on three of his five rides (60 per cent strike-rate) in Britain this season and partners Boiling Over (2.47) for Karl Burke.

Limerick: Intellotto a classy chasing debutant

Intellotto is a fascinating recruit to Joseph O'Brien's chasing ranks and make his first start over fences in the 2m4f beginners' chase (6.08).

Simon Munir and Isaac Souede's five-year-old has plenty of class, having twice run in Grade 1 company as a juvenile hurdler. He won twice over hurdles and once on the Flat, so success here would see him complete a full set in the different codes.

This may not be a straightforward assignment, however, with the 130-plus-rated pair Encanto Bruno and Jigoro in opposition.

Wolverhampton: in-form Fistral Beach goes for more course success

Fistral Beach has recent form figures of 11213 and bids for a fourth success in less than three months in the 7f handicap (8.00).

The four-year-old filly has found her level now with John Mackie and was a course-and-distance winner two starts ago.

Set to carry top weight under PJ McDonald, Fistral Beach will come up against the likes of Emerald Army and Brother Dave.

Yarmouth: opening act for expensive breeze-up buy Applause

The 6f novice (3.55) is invariably won by a smart prospect and there is plenty to like among this year's nine runners.

Perhaps the pick of them is Godolphin's Silent Applause, who cost 1,400,000gns from the Craven Breeze-Up Sale in April. The son of Acclamation is surely pencilled in on Charlie Appleby's teamsheet for Royal Ascot.

The trainer is operating at a 39 per cent strike-rate with seven winners from his last 18 runners, while jockey Dougie Costello has a 24 per cent strike-rate (15-63) for the yard.
