Is there a Grade 1 race in the British jumps calendar with as many repeat winners as the Howden Long Walk Hurdle (2.25)? It is difficult to name a rival for that particular crown.
Just five horses account for 15 of the 25 wins this century, and on Saturday the Fergal O'Brien-trained Crambo bids to chisel his name into the granite monument that is the Christmas staying crown’s roll of honour for the third time.
In doing so he would join Big Buck’s, Reve De Sivola and Paisley Park as triple winners, while Baracouda stands alone in triumphing on four occasions between 2000 and 2004.
