Bath: course-and-distance specialist returns for Harris
Moe’s Legacy has been responsible for all three of trainer Ron Harris’s wins this season and she returns to the same course and distance as for two of those successes in the 5½f handicap (7.16).
The four-year-old is rated 18lb higher than when her winning run began here last month, having also struck at Salisbury in between her victories at this track and trip.
The daughter of Havana Grey was third of 12 when upped in class at Newbury last time.
Harris said: "We wanted to give her a break for a few weeks but she's come out of all of her races so well, and I thought the race could cut up. The ground is another big factor as it'll be quick."
On what has spurred improvement from the filly, he added: "She was quirky as a young horse. When she was winning so well at the likes of Salisbury we thought we had her right, but she regressed, and then again after her last win. I trained her mother, who got better with age, and she's just loving life right now."
Doncaster: Varian sends out Godolphin newcomer Avicenna
Roger Varian was added to Godolphin’s list of British-based trainers for the 2025 Flat season and one of the four juveniles he was sent by Sheikh Mohammed’s operation, Avicenna, makes his debut in the 7f novice (2.32).
Varian enjoyed Group 1 success in the 2016 Lockinge Stakes with Belardo for Godolphin and has now joined Charlie Appleby, Saeed bin Suroor, John and Thady Gosden and Simon and Ed Crisford on the owners' full-time roster.
Avicenna was bought for 450,000gns as a yearling at Tattersalls Book 2 last October and is a half-brother to Old Cock and Amortentia, who have won handicaps off ratings of 90 and 86 respectively.
Doncaster stat: Coeur Jaune
David O'Meara's filly is 2-2 at a mile and bids to maintain that 100 per cent record over the trip (3.40) under a 6lb penalty.
Market Rasen: Game Beaaa faces higher mark in bid for another course win
Game Beaaa could not be in better form as she bids to repeat her 2023 win in the 2m2½f handicap hurdle (8.03). The eight-year-old is unbeaten since undergoing wind surgery for a second time in April, with both victories coming at this track.
The mare was raised 13lb as a result of her 13-length success here last time, however, and her mark of 98 is 17lb higher than when landing this race two years ago.
A fascinating rival is Bennettshill, who is making his handicap debut after 262 days off the track and a wind operation of his own.
His trainer Henry Oliver rides him most days and is looking forward to the lightly raced eight-year-old getting back on track.
He said: "He's been back in for a while but unfortunately when he came back in he had an epiglottis over his palate, so you could hear an issue with his wind straight away. We had that done and gave him a couple of weeks off.
"He's fit, seems fairly straight and hopefully should run well. Riding him at home, I'd be quite happy with his opening mark. He's nice, but he's had a lot of problems. He won his maiden point in Ireland impressively and didn't do a lot wrong in novice hurdles.
"He ran on real deep ground and didn't really like it, hence why we're running here. He hasn't had much racing for his age."
Perth: Russell and Scudamore start over jumps with ten runners
Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore were belatedly granted a joint-training licence at the start of the month. While the pair have been represented by five Flat runners since, they are better known for their jumpers.
Scudamore and Russell's first official jumps runners as a partnership come in the 2m maiden hurdle (3.55), with Scriabin making his stable debut after joining from Patrick Griffin and Chichester looking to bounce back after moderate efforts here on his last two runs.
They are among ten declarations on the card for Russell and Scudamore, whose Evaluation contests the feature 2m handicap hurdle (6.07).
The seven-year-old was third at this track and trip last month and his rivals in the £25,000 event include Fiveonefive, winner of a valuable race at Cartmel on his most recent start in Britain.
Dual course-and-distance winner Here Comes Georgie and Rock On Pedro, who made a winning start for Olly Murphy last month, are other leading contenders.
Perth stat: Gerald Quinn
Two of the trainer's six runners at Perth this season have won and he runs Invictus World (5.05), Tamlaght Eyes (5.35) and Bayonetta (6.38).
Tramore: Stepdance out to continue winning run for De Bromhead
Stepdance took 13 starts to win but is now on a hat-trick and returns to the same track and trip as last month's breakthrough victory in the 1m4f handicap (6.32).
The five-year-old’s form figures have improved steadily since joining Henry de Bromhead from Andrew McNamara.
She defied a 7lb rise to follow up her course-and-distance success at Limerick last time and is up another 8lb, but she will not have Conor Cusack’s 7lb claim to help her this time.
However, the in-form mare is reunited with 3lb claimer Wayne Hassett, who aims to make it 2-2 on Stepdance having been the first rider to win on her.
None of Stepdance’s six rivals has won a race this season, although Highway Sixty One has finished in the money on three of his last four starts and runs for the first time since being gelded.
