Five things to watch out for on Navan's Saturday card packed full of quality

Maiden hurdle boasts star-studded roll of honour (12.35)

With subsequent multiple Grade 1 winners Jasmin De Vaux and Caldwell Potter on the recent roll of honour, there's plenty to live up to for whoever lands this race but it's unlikely we'll see such a short-priced favourite this time given it looks a particularly competitive event.

Copacabana looked very smart when winning a bumper on his debut for Willie Mullins at this track prior to going off a well-fancied 9-2 shot in the Champion Bumper and finishing tenth of 17.

However, this will take plenty of winning with Grade 2 bumper winner Colcannon, Road Exile and Burrows Drive, who was second to Copacabana before bolting up at the track in March, in opposition.

Thedeviluno bids to follow in classy footsteps (1.10)

Gordon Elliott has a strong hand in the Grade 2 novice hurdle with Classical Creek, Kovanis and Port Authority, all of whom were impressive when winning their maiden last time, and it's intriguing Jack Kennedy opts for Kovanis as one could make an argument that either of the other two would have been a more obvious choice.

Paul Nolan landed this race with Latest Exhibition (2019) and Shinrock Paddy (2009) and saddles Thedeviluno, who made a winning start over obstacles at Gowran Park, and the form has been boosted handsomely in the interim. Runner-up Skylight Hustle bolted up at Fairyhouse on his next start, while the third-placed The Passing Wife filled the same spot in the Royal Bond last weekend.

Nolan said: "I'm hoping he can handle the step up in trip and he'll have to step up again now after Gowran into Grade 2 company. It looks a hot race with a lot of horses coming into it in good form. The ground should be okay for him as it was heavy at Gowran and hopefully he can run respectably."

Fascile Mode looks well equipped for stamina test (1.42)

This 3m1½f trip will take plenty of getting in the forecast testing ground and the Tom Mullins-trained Fascile Mode seems well equipped for such a test after he really caught the eye over fences at Cheltenham last month.

The seven-year-old has plenty of ability but his jumping has left a bit to be desired. However, he was better last time and excelled over a marathon trip. Approaching the second-last, he had a mountain to climb but he made relentless progress in the straight to catch Protektorat for second.

Off the same mark back over hurdles, he is well treated and this looks an ideal spot for him

Mullins said: "He ran very well at Cheltenham and he's slightly better handicapped over hurdles. He has no problems with three miles plus and he's been in good form since, so we're very hopeful."

Inthepocket a fascinating handicap contender (2.17)

In the Listed handicap chase, Inthepocket is a fascinating proposition back in a handicap given he is a Grade 1-winning novice hurdler and seemed set to scale similar heights over fences before a couple of setbacks.

After finishing third in Grade 2 company at Naas in January, he returned at the same track last month and fell two out when still going okay. A mark of 149 demands plenty but he is well capable of defying it on his best form.

Wingmen one to side with after excellent chase debut (2.52)

This is a typically red-hot beginners' chase for this time of year in Ireland with Kopeck De Mee, who was a big talking horse last season, Wingmen and Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Slade Steel in the field.

Wingmen has the benefit of a run this season and he produced an excellent effort over course and distance behind Final Demand on his chase debut last month. While he was beaten 13 lengths, the winner is very smart and Wingmen was the only one to put it up to him at the front-end, and his finishing effort suffered as a result.
