Charlie Appleby bids to land another Sirenia Stakes with hat-trick seeker and Aidan O'Brien gives jockey first ride
Punting pointers for Saturday's meetings at Kempton, Navan, Stratford, Thirsk and Wolverhampton

Kempton: Appleby aims to keep solid Sirenia record going
No trainer has won the Group 3 Unibet Sirenia Stakes (3.10) more times in the last decade than Charlie Appleby and he bids to add to Rouleau (2015) and Mischief Magic's (2022) victories with Beckford’s Folly.
The son of Lope De Vega will be ridden by Oisin Murphy for the first time for his all-weather debut after a couple of wins on Newmarket's July course. Appleby said: “Beckford’s Folly brings a nice profile into this, having won his last two starts, and we're very pleased with him.
"Based on what he has achieved so far, we certainly feel he is capable of running well at this level.”
Chicory is one of only two other last-time-out winners in the ten-runner line-up. Her trainer Ed Walker said: "I knew she was better than she had shown on her debut at Windsor, where she ended up making the running and tiring late on, and I was delighted to see her prove the point with a really impressive success at Newbury.
"She has come out of that pleasing effort well and that encouraged me to have a look at the Sirenia, which can be quite a weak Group 3."
Navan: first ride for Frain
Freya Frain could have been given lower-key opportunities for her first career ride but Aidan O'Brien has entrusted the 10lb claimer to partner Cactus in the feature 6f race (2.15).
Cactus, the daughter of Wootton Bassett, has been ridden by Wayne Lordan on three of her four starts but that jockey instead partners Cactus's stablemate First Approach in the €30,000 event.
Lordan rode First Approach to be second in Listed company at Tipperary in July. First Approach was also fourth behind the highly regarded Albert Einstein and subsequent Phoenix Stakes winner Power Blue under the Derby-winning rider in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh in May.
That form is clearly significantly better than that of Cactus, who was third off a mark of 77 on her handicap debut over course and distance last week.
Stratford stat: Alex Chadwick
Alex Chadwick has ridden three winners from four rides at the track this season and partners Laser Focus in the opening seller (4.12).
Stratford: old rivals clash in feature race
Finest View beat Black Hawk Eagle by two and a quarter lengths over the same course and distance as the feature 2m1f handicap chase (5.22) in July but the runner-up reopposes the winner on 10lb better terms here.
Beaten only a neck by two-time Listed winner Arclight off a higher mark in a better grade on her next outing at this track, Finest View was second again when sent off favourite at Newton Abbot last time.
Finest View was two lengths behind the four-timer-completing Centara on that occasion, and returning to a venue where she has form figures of 1212 for Alan King should suit.
Black Hawk Eagle should improve for the experience of his chasing debut behind Finest View, while In The Air is 2lb worse off with Ballywilliam Boy than when they were the first two home at Uttoxeter in July.
Thirsk: Group 2 entrant bids to remain unbeaten
Jack Jones had a few options with his Group 2 Betfred Champagne Stakes entry Rogue Messiah, but rather than running at Haydock or in the Sirenia Stakes, the Windsor winner attempts to defy a 7lb penalty in Thirsk's feature 6f novice (3.25).
Rogue Messiah made a successful debut in good style last month, although all seven of her eight rivals to have run since have been beaten.
Kieran Shoemark steered the son of Kodi Bear to a three-and-a-quarter length victory but he is at Haydock, so Eddy Greatrex, who has ridden a winner from two rides for Jones, takes over.
The trainer said: "We've always thought a lot of him and he won impressively on his debut despite doing so much wrong. He was slowly away, ran green, got a bump by the second horse and still won.
"We think he's very smart and we were keen to take the longer route with him, running in a novice with a penalty rather than a Group race. It's the right race."
Thirsk stat: Jim Goldie
Jannas Journey has won five of her nine starts since joining Jim Goldie and could take her strike-rate for the trainer to 60 per cent if completing a six-timer in the 7f fillies' handicap (4.00).
Wolverhampton: big day for Bowen
Godolphin and Saeed bin Suroor have booked Sean Dylan Bowen to ride for them for the first time in the 1m1½f maiden (6.12) and the 19-year-old has an excellent chance to impress on Dancingintherain.
The three-year-old has been a beaten favourite on her last two starts but the form of her Nottingham third when last seen in July has worked out well.
The winner of that novice, Vincent Rocks, defied a penalty to give upwards of 5lb and a three-quarter length beating to 12 rivals at Southwell on his next start. The second-placed Mezcala, who finished half a length in front of Dancingintherain, went one better to land a Lingfield maiden on his next outing.
Dancingintherain had chased home subsequent Listed fourth Trad Jazz on her second start and the winner from her debut third at Kempton in July 2024, Alla Stella, went on to be third in a Curragh Group 3.
