Brighton: can course-specialist get back on track?

Time Patrol has been in great form this year with five wins in nine starts, with three of those coming at this track.

Jack Doughty has been on board for all of those successes and returns to the saddle to partner the Tony Carroll-trained five-year-old in the 7f handicap (7.12), who carries top weight.

Time Patrol's career-high mark of 65 remains unchanged after he finished fourth here last month, but he continues to please his trainer.

"He's in good form at home and clearly has a liking for the track," said Carroll. "He's very well and it looks a nice opportunity for him."

Lingfield: profitable jockey

In the last five years on Lingfield's Flat turf track, Callum Shepherd holds the highest £1 level-stakes profit of any jockey, returning at +£64.35.

He has a full book of rides on the card with two of his runners standing out. The progressive Captain Brett broke his maiden last time after two previous second-placed finishes and is an interesting contender stepping up in trip in the 2m½f handicap (3.25).

In the 7f novice (4.25), Shepherd's mount Command The Stars is the only previous winner having scored by five lengths on his second start at Beverley. The George Scott-trained two-year-old carries a penalty against seven rivals headed by newcomer Armstrong, a 260,000gns yearling purchase owned jointly by Al Shaqab and Amo Racing.

Pontefract: Mount King out to rule again

Mount King has claimed all but one of his four wins at Pontefract and returns to his favourite track in the mile handicap (4.40).

The Tim Easterby-trained five-year-old registered his biggest-margin win when scoring by two and a half lengths over the course and distance last week, for which he carries a 5lb penalty.

David Allan, who has ridden Mount King to all his Pontefract successes, is expecting another bold show, providing the breaks come at the right time.

"He obviously loves the track, but he needs a little bit of luck in running," he said. "Everything went perfectly for him last time, but it didn't the time before.

"We used to make the running with him but he got sick of it, so we decided to drop him in and ride him to finish, which seems to have revitalised him."

Tramore: admirable veteran switches codes

The evergreen Lord Erskine returns in the 2m handicap (7.50) for his first start since winning a competitive Listed handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse in April.

The 12-year-old, whose career record stands at 12 wins in 69 starts over both codes, sprung a 22-1 surprise last time against a field of much younger rivals.

Lord Erskine, who won this race in 2023 with a claimer on board, switches back to the Flat with Nicola Burns taking off 7lb on her first ride on the dual-purpose performer.

Uttoxeter: perfect chase record

James Owen bids to maintain his perfect run in handicap chases at the track this season with two runners on the card.

The trainer is looking to extend his 4-4 record, starting with Ballytechno in the 2m4f handicap chase (6.30). The six-year-old has won two of his seven starts since joining Owen and makes his second start over fences after finishing third as the 6-4 favourite last time.

My Gift To You, who goes for Owen in the 3m2f handicap chase (7.00), has been running well without winning and is likely to be in the shake-up again with Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle.
