Venetia Williams at the double as Frenchy continues her fantastic form

The flying form of Venetia Williams showed no sign of slowing down as Frenchy Du Large followed up his win at Uttoxeter in December in the 2m3½f novice handicap chase.

Fences omitted due to low sun played into the favour of the seven-year-old, who initiated a double on the card for for Williams and stable jockey Charlie Deutsch.

"Frenchy is still a little bit careful at the obstacles, so less fences might not have been a hindrance for him," said Williams. "Chepstow is always a lovely course to bring novice chasers to and we're pleased to get another success under his belt."

The double was sealed thanks to the success of Eleanor Bob, who broke a winning drought of over two years when running home an easy winner of the 2m7½f handicap chase for mares.

Williams added: "She's been outpaced from time to time but she's very quick into her stride landing over fences. Everyone struggled to find more pace in the testing ground but that suited her perfectly."

Gamble landed

Lanspark justified an early morning gamble into 10-1 (from 33) as he shrugged off two pulled-up efforts this season to make a winning comeback in the in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle under Brendan Powell.

Joe Tizzard, assistant trainer to father Colin, said: "It's been tough to get him back on track but he looked good in his skin and we were hopeful for a big run. We're chuffed to bits with him."

The win came one day after Tizzard's nephew Freddie Gingell claimed his first point-to-point win on Molineaux, with the whole family in attendance at Buckfastleigh in Devon on Sunday to cheer him on.

"We all went down there and it was lovely for the whole family," Tizzard added. "It was only his second point-to-point race, he's only 16 and had a winner, so he's on cloud nine."
