Tony Carroll aiming for career-best season as Be My Sea strikes

Tony Carroll is targeting 100 winners after landing the feature 2m4f handicap with Be My Sea

Tony Carroll is targeting a career-best year after ten-year-old Be My Sea took the feature 2m4f handicap to continue the trainer’s excellent form.

Ridden by Jason Watson for the first time, the veteran comfortably breezed clear of his younger rivals to make a mockery of the marathon trip and win by four and three-quarter lengths.

Worcestershire-based Carroll, who had an across-the-cards treble on Tuesday, said: "I was surprised to see this race in the calendar. I had to look twice when I saw it, so it's just come at the right time for him.

"He’s a nice, honest horse who has been looked after. The pace of the race didn’t suit him the other day at Kempton but he’s done well today."

The dual-purpose trainer enjoyed a career-best 80 winners on the Flat last year and has set his sights on another record-breaking season.

He added: "We’re very happy with everything, I’ve been able to place some of the horses correctly. We’ll try to see if we can hit 100 winners this year. That’s the target."

Yesyes wins again

The well-bred Juddmonte filly Yesyes made it two wins out of two to continue a perfect start to her career for Ralph Beckett and Rob Hornby.

The daughter of Camelot was sent off the odds-on favourite after an impressive debut success at Haydock, in which she beat the classy Eileendover.

The three-year-old was forced to work hard to land the 1m3½f contest, eventually fending of the persistent challenge of Fantasising to win by a length.
