'She's only a little filly' - Group company next for unbeaten Just Beautiful
Just Beautiful dazzled on her turf debut to remain unbeaten and pick up valuable black type for Ivan Furtado.
The three-year-old won her previous three starts under Joey Haynes on the all-weather, and she had no issue converting her form onto turf to pick up the Listed Maggie Dickson Stakes.
Furtado said: "It’s brilliant, she’s only a little filly but she has a big heart and will only improve from this run.
"It was her first time out on the turf, but she had a workout at Newmarket so we thought she’d run well. She should definitely make a mile in the future and we'll probably look for a Group race next."
The daughter of Pride of Dubai made the running and stretched out to a comfortable one and a half length win in the 7f feature.
"It’s so good for the yard," Furtado added, "we don’t get many horses like this coming through so it’s great for all her connections."
Secret Strength springs surprise
Secret Strength upset what was thought to be a sure thing as the two-year-old colt snatched the opening 5f conditions stakes in the dying strides from favourite Boonie.
A total of £12,833 was traded at the minimum 1.01 in-running as the Kevin Ryan-trained Boonie built up a two-length advantage, before Secret Strength reeled in the front-runner to break his maiden for trainer Richard Hannon and jockey Joe Fanning.
Fanning made it a double on the day when the Mark Johnston-trained Thunder of Niagara landed the 7f handicap.
