Relief for Osborne as he places Hashtagmetoo to score for 'difficult owner'
Jamie Osborne breathed a sigh of relief and ensured some respite from one of his trickiest owners after Hashtagmetoo thrived for the step up in trip when landing the 1m5f handicap.
A well-timed ride by daughter Saffie secured a length-and-three-quarters win for the four-year-old filly from favourite Tajdid.
"It's very nice to see her win as she belongs to my wife and her friends," Osborne said. "I've been failing miserably with the filly and have been hearing about it with great regularity – she's probably been my most difficult owner.
"We thought we'd try something different and step him up in trip and thankfully it worked.
"They [The Other Club] own two fillies at the yard and the other is unraced. If I trained 20 horses for the same ownership I think I would probably quit," the trainer joked.
The win was also the 30th of the year for Saffie Osborne, who has ridden Hashtagmetoo in all but one of her ten runs in 2021.
Johnston double
Mark Johnston landed the feature 1m3½f fillies' handicap with Basilicata, who was winning for the first time in over a year under David Egan at odds of 10-1.
The trainer completed a double when Franny Norton guided 9-4 shot Reams Of Love to victory in the other 1m3½f contest.
Back to Bath for Red Alert
Red Alert returned to the scene of his 2018 success to reclaim the apprentice handicap for trainer Tony Carroll.
It was a fourth win at Bath for Red Alert, who scored under 23-year-old Jordan Williams.
