'Plan A went wrong' - On A Session ends long losing streak to set up Galway tilt
Wednesday: Musselburgh
On A Session warmed up for another ambitious tilt at the Galway festival in perfect style after he ended a three-year losing run with a narrow victory in the feature 7f handicap.
The six-year-old had not won since June 2019, but ended his barren spell and got off the mark at the 12th attempt for David and Nicola Barron, despite missing the break under Ben Curtis.
"Plan A went wrong, it was a nightmare in the stalls and it unravelled a bit quickly, but fortunately Ben was able to bide his time and come with that perfect run," Nicola Barron said.
"He's been running in some seriously competitive races and nearly every time he's been in the first three. It's testament to him that he's been consistent each time and giving everyone a cheer."
On A Session will bid to make it third time lucky in the "Ahonoora" Handicap at the Galway festival, having finished third and runner-up in the last two runnings.
Barron added: "His owners are all Irish based and I expect he'll head back over there. They go flat out and the stiff finish suits. It'll be my first representation in Ireland with my name on the licence too."
Top Tuer
Grant Tuer's terrific season at the East Lothian track continued when Run Cmc bravely held on to win the opening 5f maiden.
The son of Gutaifan's three-quarter length success was a third this year at Musselburgh for Tuer from just 11 runners.
