One For Rosie blooms on first start for 418 days for in-form Kim Bailey

One For Rosie defied a 418-day absence to win comfortably on his stable debut for owner-trainer Kim Bailey in the 2m novice chase.

The eight-year-old was making only his second start since April 2019, when he was third behind Reserve Tank in the Grade 1 Mersey Novices' Hurdle at Aintree for Nigel Twiston-Davies.

Formerly owned by Paul and Clare Rooney, One For Rosie finished 20 lengths clear of a talented field, including runner-up Monsieur Le Coq and Mick Pastor, second to Shishkin at Kempton this season.

"It was great to see him put in a performance like that," said Bailey, who has won with each of his last three runners and four of his last five. "It's been an interesting saga – he was supposed to go pointing. We'll see how he comes out of the race before deciding on a plan."

Bargain buy

Bargain buy Overworkdunderpaid recorded his third win in four starts for Laura Morgan when landing the 2m6½f handicap chase.

The eight-year-old, who cost the trainer £11,000 in October, took this step up in class in his stride, finishing six and a half lengths clear of Top And Drop.

"He's been a legend for us," said Morgan. "He's going the right way and this was one of his more comfortable wins. He was a bargain buy given his bumper form and a race like the Midlands National might not be beyond the realms of possibility off a low weight."

Landmark win

Connor Brace rode out his claim when scoring aboard Premier Magic in the second division of the 2m6½f novice hunters' chase.
