Joy for Jardine on his journey to the sales as he fires in 241-1 treble

A day after Iain Jardine hailed his now-retired stable star Nakeeta as the horse who "put us on the map" he further stamped his impressive training credentials with a treble on the card, which was kickstarted by The Gloaming's success in the opening division of the 5f handicap.

The Dumfries and Galloway-based trainer, who missed the successes as he was driving to Newmarket for Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale, also scored with Kats Bob in the 7f handicap before Never Dark completed the 241-1 feat when winning the 5f handicap.

He said: "The Gloaming is a course-and-distance winner earlier in the year, she likes soft ground. She's been below par recently running in better races, but she's dropped in class today and duly obliged."

Kats Bob's victory was poignant for the owners and Jardine added: "Kats Bob is owned by Toby and Colin Dorman, the horse is named after Toby's sister and Colin's daughter who sadly passed away."

The trainer's stable jockey Andrew Mullen was on board for all three successes and Jardine was keen to praise the skills of his fellow Scot in his first full season in the role.

He added: "Andrew has been riding for me as stable jockey for over a year now, he consistently delivers all the time, he's such a professional.

"He's genuine, honest, hard-working jockey that deserves all the chances he gets."

Three-way thriller

Roulston Scar prevailed in a thrilling three-way finish to narrowly win the feature 5f Flying Scotsman Conditions Stakes.

The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained gelding battled to a nose success from Indian Sounds – with Makanah a further head behind in third – to pick up a third victory of the season.
