A subsequent Oaks contender emerged in the mile fillies' maiden on this card last year and owner-breeder Anthony Oppenheimer is hopeful his Kings Joy can follow a similar path after victory in the second division of this year's race.

Ocean Road finished sixth at Epsom in June after winning this race but unlike Kings Joy, she had the benefit of previous racecourse experience.

Debutant Kings Joy raced prominently under Rab Havlin after breaking from the widest stall and picked up the leader Playday in the home straight to win comfortably by a length.

A delighted Oppenheimer said: "I think the stable think very highly of her and we're quite excited. She's beginning to grow into herself and I thought it was a strong race."

The John and Thady Gosden-trained filly will not run again in 2021 but joins an exciting squad for the owner next year, which includes Frantastic – a brother to his four-time Group 1 winner Cracksman – who won at Newcastle in October.

"I'm very keen to win the Oaks because I've never won it, but it's such a long way away," he said. "We've bred the winners of all the other Classics so we just thought we'd like to win this one!"

United Front missed out by a neck at Kempton on Monday but made amends for that near miss when running out a three-length winner of the 1m2f handicap under Tom Marquand for Mick Appleby.
