It feels odd saying Snowfall is the best three-year-old filly in Europe given her juvenile form, but she can now take the middle-distance division by storm.

The way she destroyed her opposition was scintillating, but what struck me most is it was in a completely different manner to her York success. She looks the complete racehorse now.

The older horse division looks poor with Al Aasy, Japan and Mogul beaten at Epsom and, if a star horse does not emerge from the Derby, we saw what Aidan O'Brien did with Minding and Magical as well as what the great Enable achieved, so it could be Snowfall's year.

'There are much better investments for the Arc'

It is easy to get carried away with the winning margin of 16 lengths and conclude Snowfall is destined to win whichever top races Aidan O’Brien targets for the remainder of the season.

But rain-sodden ground, combined with Epsom’s unique test, can amplify the perceived dominance of any winner. Snowfall is undoubtedly improving as her stamina is tested, but she handled the conditions and plenty of the others – a modest bunch in truth – probably did not.

There is every chance she will win another Group 1 or two and end up in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, but there are much better investments at 5-1. At least wait 24 hours for the Derby to be run.

'This was another massive step forward'

Some might say she's just another Homecoming Queen, the former Ballydoyle filly who raced loads at two when not doing much before dotting up in a Classic only to disappear again, but Snowfall can go right to the top on that performance.

Snowfall was only average in seven runs as a juvenile, but she had looked a different filly when winning at York and this was another massive step forward. She was utterly dominant and Frankie Dettori had to let her go when he did, as there was simply no point waiting when she was in a different league.

Aidan O'Brien can run her in the Irish Oaks next, but if she looks the business at the Curragh she has to be a serious Arc contender. You can't be thinking anything less on that display.
