'I think he's going to do big things' - Ottoman Emperor impresses Kelly

Shane B Kelly predicts Ottoman Emperor is going to do "big things" and it is hard to argue with that view after watching the exciting Excelebration colt complete the hat-trick in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race.

You would have to love Ottoman Emperor's attitude – the tougher it gets, the more he wants it. He is already a warrior when he gets into a battle and this time he gunned down the smooth-travelling Tazaral, who touched a low of 1.23 on Betfair.

The winning jockey was certainly impressed and is looking forward to seeing what Ottoman Emperor does next.

Kelly said: "He's on the improve and seems to be getting better with racing. He's exciting and loves to battle. He's a bit idle, but then something comes to him and he loves to fight.

"I think he's going to do big things and will probably stay further as well. You'd like to have him going forward anyway."

Geocentric off mark

Shane Lyons, assistant to brother Ger, admitted it was not ideal for Geocentric to be returning to the track just seven days after her promising debut at Naas, but it didn't stop her justifying a very skimpy starting price of 2-11 in the 5f maiden under champion jockey Colin Keane.

Lyons said: We don't really like running them back too soon but she would have been working anyway and it was a local track. She did it well, but had to do it on her own. We'll give her a bit of time and won't rush her.

"She will get six furlongs and a bit of easier ground will help as well. She's done her job, she got a good lead there and Colin was very happy with her. She has a good page and getting some black type would obviously be the plan."

Amazing local win

Liam McAteer was celebrating at his local track as Amazing Emma won the 5f handicap under Chris Hayes.

McAteer said: "She was very calm and collected. Chris was very good on her. She was drawn on the outside, which some don't like, but I do as you are out of trouble."

Hayes brought up a double on the card when winning the 1m2f handicap on 10-1 shot Clueless Hill to give trainer Luke Comer has first win at Navan.
