'I could envisage Homeless Songs outsprinting Native Trail and Modern Games'

After Homeless Songs ran out a dominant winner of the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh, we canvassed the view of three Racing Post experts and asked: how does she measure up against the top colts we've seen?

'I'd back her getting weight from the Godolphin colts'

I think she compares favourably and I'd certainly back her getting weight from Native Trail and Modern Games.

Her potent turn of foot sets her apart among the fillies of her generation and there is sufficient evidence in her pedigree to think she will get beyond a mile, so she has versatility on her side.

I could envisage Homeless Songs outsprinting both Native Trail, who looks worth stepping up in trip now, and Modern Games, who was perfectly positioned to win a tactical French 2,000 Guineas. Coroebus would be tougher, but I wouldn't put it past her.

'You will have to be very good to beat Coroebus'

What an exciting performance that was from Homeless Songs in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, a race that showcased her high-quality miling assets of being able to travel powerfully and quicken with a lethal turn of foot.

Those attributes may have exaggerated her winning margin over Tuesday and Concert Hall, who look and are bred to be middle-distance fillies. Nevertheless, you could not help but think she would be extremely competitive racing against any of the Guineas-winning colts this season.

That said, I was bowled over by Coroebus before he won the 2,000 Guineas and he only enhanced that with his success that day. I think you will have to be very good indeed to beat him this year – potentially as top notch as Baaeed.

'She will give the colts a serious run for their money'

Native Trail and Coroebus were both impressive in their own right but what Homeless Songs produced at the Curragh was simply breathtaking.

She put a top-quality field of fillies to the sword in a matter of strides, and the race was over a furlong and a half from home. She travelled strongly throughout the contest and possesses a turn of foot which puts her a cut above the rest.

The Coronation Stakes looks her next port of call, but if she were to take on the colts at some point you could see her giving them a serious run for their money, especially with the help of an allowance.

While many of her rivals on Sunday were probably middle-distance fillies in time, as are probably the Guineas-winning colts, Homeless Songs looks a miler who will be feared wherever she ends up, and rightly so.
