Grade 2-winning hurdler Hang In There continued his superb summer form as the Emma Lavelle-trained seven-year-old made it 2-2 at the course in the 2m½f handicap hurdle under conditional Joe Anderson.

Hang In There, owned by Tim Syder and Andrew Gemmell, previously finished second in the Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen and a return to the Lincolnshire track could be forthcoming.

Lavelle said: "Joe gave him a super ride – to take 10lb off is obviously a big advantage and Hang In There has his confidence back.

"There's a valuable hurdle for him back at Market Rasen at the end of the month. He seems to be on the upgrade again."

Present picks up pieces

The Donald McCain-trained Presentandcounting made it a fifth chase win out of six and back-to-back successes at the track in fortuitous fashion in the 2m3½f novice chase.

The Nicky Henderson-trained Hooper, who was in receipt of 17lb from McCain’s odds-on favourite, looked in firm control having swept to the front around the closing bend.

However, it all changed at the final fence as regular rider Ben Ffrench Davis was unseated from the leader, gifting victory to the Brian Hughes-ridden Presentandcounting.

Hughes completed a double aboard Larch Hill, who made a successful stable debut for Charles and Adam Pogson in the 2m1f handicap chase.

Dixon delivers

Conditional Jason Dixon gave the Tom Gretton-trained Bagan a fine, patient ride for a comfortable victory in the 2m2½f selling hurdle, with the winner bought by Simon Prout for £11,250.
