Tuesday: Brighton

Executive Pool justified significant market support on Tuesday with a front-running victory in the 1m4f classified stakes at Brighton having been backed into 100-30 joint-second favourite (from 22).

The Gary Moore-trained three-year-old, who was having his first run since being gelded, was installed as an outsider for the contest on Monday evening but shortened markedly to get off the mark at the fourth attempt.

Executive Pool followed in the footsteps of stablemate Goshen, who won at this meeting in 2019, when he denied the fast-finishing Sugar Candie under Darragh Keenan.

Goshen's owner Steve Packham, who is involved with the Dubai Five partnership who own Executive Pool, said: "It's absolutely incredible. We don't really know where all the money came from if we're being totally honest. We backed him as we would do anyway, but I was shocked when I looked at my phone last night."

He added: "His two-year-old career was always going to be a bit of a waste of time, but we wanted to give him that experience and he's come into his own over the further distances."

Packham was also delighted the aptly named three-year-old got off the mark for the syndicate, having met the four other members at the Middle East city's Jumeirah Beach hotel before purchasing him.

"We actually met in Dubai at the Executive Pool there where we decided to buy, hence the name," he added. "One was in Turkey today, as well as another in Wales, but they're absolutely thrilled to have that celebratory feeling."
