'Flagship horse' Mostly Cloudy seals fourth straight win for Gemma Tutty
Friday: Doncaster
Mostly Cloudy has been a revelation since moving up to staying trips for first-season trainer Gemma Tutty and he kept the ball rolling with a fourth straight win in the 2m½f handicap.
Tutty, who took over from her mother Karen at the start of the season, has this improving three-year-old to thank for a dream start but said it was a hard watch as he had to battle back after being headed in the final furlong under Connor Beasley.
"He appears to be the flagship horse for the yard," said Tutty. "It was really nerve-racking watching him. He showed amazing tenacity to get back up from half a length down in the last half a furlong.
"Ideally I'd have liked him to have had more time after his last race but as long as he's telling me he's okay to go again, then he'll keep going and he just about won."
Tutty is looking to beat the North Yorkshire yard's total of 15 winners from last season, with Mostly Cloudy taking her tally to nine.
"The July Sales are coming up and that's going to be an important week to try and get some more horses in," said Tutty. "The aim of beating 15 winners from last year was ambitious enough and it's not going to be easy but if we keep the ball rolling I'd like to hit 20; you've got to set your sights high."
Red-hot Haggas
William Haggas continued his fine form when Sea On Time won for the second time in the 1m4f novice under Stevie Donohoe.
